Pseudomonas aeruginosa

A gram negative aerobic bacillus bacterium considered by many as a facultative anaerobic (can growth at aerobic or anaerobic conditions).

Characteristic of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the production of a green color pigment so called “pyocyanin”.

Although is considered as a weak pathogenic for humans and animals, some strains are resistant to antibiotics and disinfectants.

It is one of the main pathogens isolated from nosocomial infections (opportunistic human pathogen).
