Terminology: Bacteriostatic Activity Value
Bacteriostatic Activity Value
A Japanese standard developed and issued by the Japan Textile Evaluation Technology Council (JTETC), in which the bacteriostatic activity value is determined by the number of live bacteria (B) of a control fabric is divided by the number of live bacteria (C) on treated fabric after 18 hours of cultivation.
Test conducted using staphylococcus aureus. A bacteriostatic activity of logarithm value of ≥2.2 is considered as “anti-odor” article.
【Calculation Formula】
B:Number of living bacteria on control fabric after 18 hours of cultivation
C:Number of living bacteria on treated fabric after 18 hours of cultivation
B
Bacteriostatic activity value = log ─── ≧ 2.2
